High School Juried Art Show

Elegibility

Current high school juniors and seniors (grades 11 and 12) are eligible to submit up to three entries of artwork made in the last two years.

Applications

Applications can be submitted online.

You’ll be asked to upload a .pdf that includes images of up to three entries of original art, as well as information about your submitted art. This includes your name, address, high school, email, phone number, title of piece, grade, age, medium, dimensions and art teacher.

The Jackson Scholars

Emerging Visions gives Hastings College art professors a first look at students who may be furthering their education in the visual arts after high school. The Jackson Scholars program offers a full ride scholarship (tuition, room and meals) to attend and study art at Hastings College.

If you are a high school senior and wish to be considered for this scholarship, please indicate that on the application.

Interviews will be given the morning of the closing reception, December 13, 2025. Applicants for the scholarship will be asked to present a portfolio.

Dates of Event

Emerging Visions is November 14–December 13, 2025. The JDAC gallery is open free to the public Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday 12-3 p.m. The gallery will be closed over Thanksgiving (November 24-28).

Closing Reception and Awards Ceremony

A closing reception will be held at the JDAC on Saturday December 13, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with awards beginning at 3:00 p.m. Interviews for the Jackson Scholars program will be in the morning, to be arranged.

Delivery of Accepted Work

All work must be delivered by Monday, November 10, 2025. The JDAC will be open Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accept work. The JDAC’s address is 700 E 12th St, Hastings, NE 68901.

Email jdubas@hastings.edu to arrange a delivery before November 10.

When dropping off art at the gallery, please have the following information attached to the art work:

• Name
• High School
• Title
• Grade
• Age
• Medium
• High School Art Teacher

Art is released after the closing reception on December 13. If not picked up after the reception, it may be picked up December 15-19 or by special arrangement.

Jurors and Awards

A panel of Hastings College art professors will serve as jurors.

Awards presented at the reception include: 

• Best of Show: $9,000 Art Scholarship
• 3D Award of Merit: $7,000 Art Scholarship
• 2D Award of Merit: $7,000 Art Scholarship
