Bronco Scholars Day is your chance to celebrate academic excellence and compete for additional scholarships to attend Hastings College!

Students who have applied and received a Crimson or Ambassador academic merit scholarship from Hastings may compete at Bronco Scholars Day on Sunday, February 18, 2024, for the opportunity to receive an additional scholarship award — including being named a Scott Scholar, which covers full tuition, fees and room and board! For those unable to attend in person, an online option will be available on Sunday, February 25.

To qualify, high school seniors must do the following by February 9, 2024:

  • Apply to Hastings College and complete all admissions requirements, including submission of your high school transcript
  • Qualify for a Crimson or Ambassador academic scholarship as determined by your high school GPA
  • Complete the Bronco Scholars Day registration form (below), including providing a brief activities and leadership resume 

Additional scholarship amounts are based on:

  • Participation during Bronco Scholars Day
  • Expected academic and leadership contributions to Hastings College

Scholarship finalists will be notified before March 15, 2024.

Scott Scholars Program

The Hastings College Scott Scholars Program, funded in partnership with the Suzanne and Walter Scott Foundation of Omaha, targets seven high achieving students per year to participate in an exclusive experiential learning program and to receive a renewable scholarship covering 100 percent of tuition and fees, plus room and board, and $2,000 in annual educational and experiential enrichment funding.

To be considered for the Scott Scholars Program, students must major or double major in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business/Economics or Math and have an ACT of 26+ or SAT of 1230+.  

Test scores and a specific major are not required for other scholarships that may be awarded to select participants during Bronco Scholars Day. 

Note: In addition to up to seven students being accepted into the Bronco Scholars Program, one full tuition scholarships will be available to non-Scott Scholar eligible participants.

In-Person Schedule and Information (February 17-18)

Saturday, February 17, 7:00 p.m. — Optional special Bronco Scholars event for students and parents. You’ll enjoy some entertainment and visit with current students and alumni about what to expect the following day. Location: The Lark (809 W 2nd Street in downtown Hastings).

Sunday, February 18, 1:00-4:00 p.m. – On campus activities and interviews for students, plus optional information sessions for parents.

Register for the in-person event. (You will need to login to your admissions portal.)

What to wear: The Saturday evening event is more casual but you will want to dress appropriately for a “business casual” function. On Sunday, more formal attire is appropriate but not required.

In the case of inclement weather, we will shift the in-person event to Saturday, February 24.

Online Schedule and Information (February 24-25)

Saturday, February 24, 5:00 p.m. — Optional special Bronco Scholars event where you’ll meet via Zoom with current students about what to expect the following day. 

Sunday, February 25, 1:00-3:15 p.m. – Interviews and information via Zoom.

Register for the online event. (You will need to login to your admissions portal.)

What to wear: The Saturday afternoon event is more casual but you will want to dress appropriately for a “business casual” function. On Sunday, more formal attire is appropriate but not required.
