Shaw, who is from Colorado Springs, Colorado, grew up with a joy of performing, and developed a passion for music, initially with the cello in orchestra before joining band and picking up an alto saxophone. Over the next 11 years his interest in music intensified, and he participated in several honor bands and music activities, eventually settling on pursuing a music education degree.

At Hastings College, Shaw participates in many ensembles, including a performance with the Hastings Symphony Orchestra as the winner of the 2024 Young Artists Competition.

After Shaw graduates from Hastings College, he plans to head to the East Coast to pursue a masters degree in music performance with a concentration in multiple woodwinds. His ultimate goal is to play on Broadway and in film music, while also pursuing a career as a music educator.

The North American Saxophone Alliance was created in 1976 and comprises individuals who share a common interest in the saxophone, including professional performers, university professors, public school teachers and students of all levels.

Hastings College is a four-year residential college that focuses on student academic and extracurricular achievement. Discover more at hastings.edu.
