What happens when a high school choir’s trip to an amusement park takes a fateful turn? Hastings College Theatre invites audiences to find out in its production of the hilarious and heartfelt musical, “Ride the Cyclone, The Musical,” running October 2-5 at Scott Studio Theatre (806 N. Turner Avenue).

The musical, with book, music and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell, tells the story of six members of the St. Cassian High School chamber choir from Uranium City, Saskatchewan. After a tragic accident on The Cyclone roller coaster, the teenagers find themselves in a mysterious limbo. Here, a mechanical fortune teller, Karnak, offers them a chance to compete for a return to life but first they must prove why they are worthy of a second chance.
Join characters Noel, Jane, Ocean, Ricky, Mischa and Constance as they attempt to unravel the fortune teller’s cryptic prophecy: “The one who wants to win it the most shall redeem the loser — in order to complete the whole.”
Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 2, 3 and 4 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance on Sunday, October 5 at 2:00 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for seniors and non-Hastings College students (cash only). Admission is free to Hastings College students, employees and Bronco Booster Club members. Tickets can be reserved by emailng tickets@hastings.edu.
