Hastings College students participate in singing competition

Hastings College students participated in the Nebraska State Adjudications of the National Association of Teachers of Singing held at the University of Nebraska Kearney on October 6. Singers from high school through doctoral students competed in their respective divisions.  

Of the 10 Hastings College students who participated, four placed in the top three in their category. These include:

  • Karli Cabrera, a senior voice performance major from Pawnee City, Nebraska, received first place in the senior women’s division.
  • Kaitlynn Schreiner, a first-year student from Grand Island, Nebraska, placed second in the lower women’s division.
  • Aaron Spracklin, a senior music major from Elmwood, Nebraska, placed second in the senior men’s division.
  • Jonathan Heredia, a senior music major from Grand Island, Nebraska, placed third in the senior men’s division.

Cabrera and Schreiner study voice with Dr. Hillary Watter, professor of music, while Heredia and Spracklin study voice with Dillon Beede, an adjunct instructor of voice and choral music.
