Hastings College Music and Theatre Department present awards at end of year celebrations

The Hastings College Music and Theatre Department recognized outstanding student work during their end-of-the-year celebrations last week.

Hastings College Music awarded nine students at their honors convocation on May 6. The full list of honors is as follows:

  • Alex Dominguez, a senior from Grand Island, Nebraska — James King Outstanding Bandsman Award and Hastings College Outstanding Contributor in Music
  • Timothy Ellis, a junior from Red Cloud, Nebraska — National Semi-Finalist in Upper Division Musical Theater
  • Ciara Figgins, a junior from Ayr, Nebraska — National Semi-Finalist for Junior Women, NAfME State Convention Collegiate Recital Participant and Gordon L. and Mary Ohlsson Endowed Music Scholarship
  • Benjamin Howie, a first year student from Hastings, Nebraska — Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Freshman Scholarship
  • Katie Kingsley, a senior from Hastings, Nebraska — National Finalist in Senior Women and Millard Cates Choral Music Award
  • Kaitlynn Schreiner, a sophomore from Grand Island, Nebraska — First Place in the Region for Sophomore Women
  • Devon Weinman, a senior from Hastings, Nebraska — Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Outstanding Sinfonian
  • Hugo Madera, a senior from Grand Island, Nebraska — Hastings College Outstanding Senior in Music
  • Kaylyn Schoen, a senior from Lakewood, Colorado — Hastings College Outstanding Performer

Hastings College Theatre presented its awards on Thursday, May 9. It also inducted six new members into the Alpha Psi Omega theater honorary and distributed colored masks, including the Purple Mask, which honors the artistic and academic excellence of junior and seniors.

  • Greer Anderson, a junior from Peyton, Colorado — Bernard C. Tushaus Award, Purple Mask
  • Amelia Amicarella, a sophomore from Littleton, Colorado — Harold Shiffler Scholarship, Scarlet Mask
  • Jackie Carreras, a first year student from Parker, Colorado — Alpha Psi Omega Harold Shiffler Award
  • Carly Cremers, a senior from Columbus, Nebraska — Runner Up for Player of the Year
  • Tyler Huntsman, a sophomore from Parker, Colorado — Scarlet Mask
  • Liz Lee, a sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colorado — Scarlet Mask
  • Kai Marshall, a sophomore from Omaha, Nebraska – Lloyd S. And Helen M. Jones Scholarship
  • Basil Rabayda, a junior from Phoenix, Arizona — Runner Up for Player of the Year, Lloyd S. And Helen M. Jones Scholarship
  • Alex Rieflin, a senior from Doniphan, Nebraska — Outstanding Theatre Student, Scarlet Mask
  • Jeff Sokol, a sophomore from Grand Island, Nebraska — Lloyd S. And Helen M. Jones Scholarship, Scarlet Mask
  • Darci Wax, a sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colorado — Player of the Year, White Mask
