Hastings College hosting mural competition for high school students

Media Advisory

Hastings College will host more than 130 high school students from across Nebraska for the Jackson Dinsdale Art Center Mural Competition on Wednesday, September 20.

Working as teams, high school students will create 4 ft. x 8 ft. murals using paint, which will then be judged by Hastings College senior art majors. The creative theme of the mural will be shared with students just before they begin work.

Students with the top mural will be offered a gallery show at the JDAC and receive a custom glass art piece created by art professor Tom Kreager. Second and third place mural teams will also receive a custom glass art piece.

At the conclusion of the event, schools will be allowed to take the murals to hang in their high schools.
