Forensics Team continues streak of success in Kansas

The Hastings College Forensics Team had another successful competition at Kansas State University October 7-8 for the Buffcats Swing hosted by Kansas State University and West Texas A&M University. The Broncos took second in team sweepstakes on the second day of the tournament, finishing strong during the competitive weekend.

October 7 results

  • Maggie Rogers, a first-year student from Birmingham, Alabama, placed third in After Dinner Speaking and second in Dramatic Interpretation.
  • Derek Monie, a first-year student from Arapahoe, Nebraska, placed seventh in Dramatic Interpretation.
  • Daniel Trevithick, a first-year student from Denver, Colorado placed sixth in Program Oral Interpretation.
  • Jesse McCollum, a first-year student from Kansas City, Kansas placed sixth in Duo Interpretation with Austin Heinlein, a junior from Hutchinson, Kansas.
  • Austin Heinlein, a junior from Hutchinson, Kansas placed sixth in Duo Interpretation with Jesse McCollum, a first-year student from Kansas City, Kansas.
  • Nathan Navratil, a sophomore from Lino Lakes, Minnesota placed fourth in Poetry Interpretation and second in After Dinner Speaking.
  • Brook McCurdy, a sophomore from Hastings, Nebraska, placed fifth in After Dinner Speaking.
  • Melissa Loney, a sophomore from Omaha, Nebraska, placed second in Communication Analysis.
  • Alli Kennon, a sophomore from Lakeville, Minnesota, placed fourth in Informative Speaking.
  • Caleb Merritt, a senior from Brookings, South Dakota, placed sixth in Poetry Interpretation.

‪The Hastings College forensics team continues a long-running tradition of national competitive success, placing in the top 20 at the American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET) for many of the past ten years. Most recently, Hastings College placed 12th at AFA-NIET 2017.
