
The Hastings College chapter of Alpha Chi, the all-discipline collegiate academic honor society, inducted 12 students during its recent induction ceremony.
The purpose of Alpha Chi is to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students and to honor those who achieve such distinction. Students from across all academic disciplines who are in the top 10 percent of their class are invited to join.
This fall’s Alpha Chi inductees are listed below.
- Lainey Benson of Hastings, Nebraska, is a math education major.
- Josie Cooley of Council Bluffs, Iowa, is a studio/digital art major.
- Sabrina DeHart of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is an elementary education major.
- Grace Hartman of Hastings, Nebraska, is an English major and studio art minor.
- Micah Hinrichs of Glenvil, Nebraska, is a finance major.
- Teyla Huff of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, is a biochemistry major.
- Sophia Lee of Gardena, California, is a wildlife biology major with minors in environmental studies and studio art.
- Madie Miles of Lincoln, Nebraska, is an elementary education major.
- Catie Reed of Firth, Nebraska, is a chemistry major with a minor in entrepreneurship and small business management.
- Brooke Schilke of Imperial, Nebraska, is a finance major with a minor in government and public policy.
- Lauryn Scott of Hastings, Nebraska, is an elementary education and K-12 special education major.
- Levi West of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is a double major in psychology and sociology with a minor in English.
Students with Alpha Chi membership help host campus activities, such as Alpha Chi Bronco Brain Buster and Academic Showcase.
The Hastings College chapter was established in 1949 by Frank Weyer and Ruth Harris. Weyer was dean of the College at the time and Harris was the librarian.
