Simon Thiel graduated from Hastings College in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He earned his master’s degree in international economics and finance from Brandeis University.
Thiel is a Managing Director in investment banking for UBS in New York City where he leads the insurance practice for the Americas. He joined UBS in September of 2025 and has over 17 years of investment banking and corporate insurance experience.
Before joining UBS, Thiel spent 12 years at Bank of America across both New York and London, where he was most recently a Managing Director focused on the insurance sector. Prior to joining Bank of America, Simon worked for Zurich Insurance Group in Switzerland as well as for HSBC in London.
