National publications recognize Hastings College for excellence

Each year, various publications select colleges and universities across the country for recognition. Hastings College is pleased to announce its inclusion in several high profile lists.

Washington Monthly ranks Hastings College 23rd among Baccalaureate Colleges nationwide in its 2012 College Guide. In its methodology, Washington Monthly gives particular weight to institutions which, like Hastings College, place a strong emphasis on student involvement with community service and service learning. It also bases the rankings on social mobility, which is in part measured through the number of enrolled low-income students who qualify for Pell grants.

“The criteria used in the Washington Monthly rankings are especially important to us as social mobility, service learning and community engagement have been hallmarks of a Hastings College education for 130 years,” said Dennis Trotter, President of Hastings College. “We believe that a college education should be accessible and practical, and it is especially fulfilling when we are recognized and celebrated by a national publication for having accomplished this.”

In the U.S. News and World 2013 edition of Best Colleges, Hastings College ranks 14th among Best Regional Colleges in the Midwest while The Princeton Review named Hastings College as one of 153 colleges designated Best in the Midwest.
