Model United Nations team to host ‘The Amazing Race’ 5K

The Hastings College Model United Nations (Model UN) team is hosting a 5K run/walk as a way to raise funds to support the team’s trip to its annual competition in New York City. “The Amazing Race” is set for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 21, beginning at Hazelrigg Student Union. Check-in and on-site registration begins at 2:30 p.m.

Registered competitors will run/walk around Hastings College representing a country that is active in the United Nations. Along the race, each person will answer a trivia question and be entered into a raffle to win a prize.

Registration is $10 by October 19, and $12 October 19-21. The cost for teams made up of 10 or more is $7 per person. Advanced registration is available in the college’s Political Science offices in Kiewit 210, or Studio 200 in Kiewit 200.

The Model UN team has traveled to the National Model UN Conference in New York City every spring since 2015. The team represents a country and engage in debates and resolution-making decisions with other teams, while keeping character and advocating their represented county’s interests. All proceeds from the 5K will go toward trips fees.
