Jimenez, Pierce pace Bronco Forensics at Kansas State Classic

Strong performances by Hastings College Bronco Forensics team members Jose Jimenez and Aaron Pierce led the Broncos to a third place finish overall at the 2013 K-State Classic hosted by Kansas State University on November 9-10, 2013. Jimenez, a senior from Lexington, Neb., finished first in the individual sweepstakes on the tournament’s second day, while Pierce, a sophomore from Cozad, Neb., finished second in the individual sweepstakes on the competition’s first day.

Additionally, the Broncos qualified four new events for the American Forensics Association-National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET). On the first day of the tournament, Jared Buskirk, a senior from Holdrege, Neb., qualified in Communication Analysis and Extemporaneous Speaking while Corbin Henk, a sophomore from Doniphan, Neb., qualified for nationals in Persuasion Speaking. On November 10, Tommy Hendrix, a sophomore from Omaha, Neb., qualified in Poetry Interpretation.

On November 16-17, 2013, Hastings College will co-host the 2013 Broncolope Swing with the University of Nebraska-Kearney. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Hastings College’s campus.
