HC Bronco Volleyball team earns academic honor from national association

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has recognized the 2011-2012 HC Bronco Volleyball team, under the direction of Head Coach Matt Buttermore, with its AVCA Team Academic Award. According to the AVCA, this annual honor recognizes teams which “have matched their dedication to the sport of volleyball with excellence in the classroom.”

To be eligible for the award, teams must maintain a cumulative grade point average (gpa) of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. For the 2011-2012 academic year, the Bronco Volleyball team maintained a 3.6 cumulative gpa.

“The AVCA Team Academic Award provides great recognition for the work our student-athletes do in the classroom,” said Buttermore. “Hastings College Volleyball, along with the rest of the Bronco Athletic Department, has earned a reputation for strong academic performances, and last year was no exception.”
