Each spring, Hastings College’s theatre arts majors in their junior or senior year perform, direct or produce a capstone project which draws together the students’ talents and experiences. For Capstones 2013, Abby Phelps, a senior from Emporia, Kans., will direct “The Courier” by Carol Mack while Becca Holloway, a senior from Grand Island, Neb., will direct “The Truth About Christmas” by Daniel Pearle.
These one-act play productions are scheduled for 8 p.m., Thursday-Saturday, March 7-9 and at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 10 in the Scott Studio Theatre (806 N. Turner Ave.) Note these performances contain mature language and subject matter.

The Truth About Christmas

At a private girls’ school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, one student’s behavior leads to a series of escalating acts of violence. In the aftermath of the scandal, three mothers and a guidance counselor try to come to terms with their confusion and anger, struggling to understand what went wrong and who can be held responsible.
