Cold weather was no excuse for area high school students to stay at home on Saturday, January 23. Indeed, more than 80 students treked to Hastings College to spend the day competing in the Kevin Heineman Memorial High School Speech Tournament. The stakes were high, with champions in each of the nine events earning Hastings College Speech scholarships.
Grand Island Central Catholic High School won the tournament while Kenesaw High School and Arapahoe High School took second and third, respectively.
