Euroscepticism in Europe topic of upcoming public lecture

Dr. Ingrid Bego, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Hastings College, will give the first Artist Lecture Series Invited Faculty Lecture of the 2014-15 academic year on Friday, November 7, 2014, at 10 a.m. in French Memorial Chapel (800 N. Turner Ave.). Her presentation, “European Far Right Resurgence in the Age of Nicki Minaj & Iggy Azalea,” is free and open to the public.

Dr. Bego, a native of Albania who advises Hastings College’s Model United Nations Club will explore the rise of the radical right in Europe and its causes before connecting the anti-European Union sentiments, known as Euroscepticism, to the age of globalization and interconnectedness.

Considered a prestigious honor for the faulty, students vote to select two professors to present the Artist Lecture Series Invited Faculty Lectures on the topic of their choosing. In Spring 2015, Dr. Michella Marino, Assistant Professor of History, will present the academic year’s second lecture.
