Hastings College names eight students to growing Jackson Scholars Program

The Hastings College Jackson Scholars program officially signed its 2026-27 class in April. The class includes eight students, up from four in last year’s inaugural class.

The scholars will receive a full-ride scholarship to Hastings College, including tuition, fees, room and meals for four years. Students will also receive professional enrichment opportunities that will support students as they seek internships, practicums and other experiences, such as conferences, exhibitions and study away opportunities, tailored to each individual’s interests.

The 2026-27 Jackson Scholars include:

  • Ava Fickler of Minden, Nebraska
  • Caleb Furrow of Callaway, Nebraska
  • Wyatt Glatthar of Aurora, Colorado
  • Natalie Lammers of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska
  • Muddz Lindstrom of Kearney, Nebraska
  • Cielo Ortiz of Osceola, Iowa
  • Haedyn McDowell of Council Bluffs, Iowa
  • Anna Smith of Omaha, Nebraska

The program will grow to 10 students for the 2027-28 class. High school juniors will be selected from this summer’s Open Space, a high school juried art show in the fall or an independent process. Details as they become available will be posted at hastings.edu/jacksonscholars.

“Expanding this year’s class to eight scholars reflects the incredible momentum of the arts at Hastings College and our commitment to supporting the next generation of creative leaders,” said Rachael Broadwell, director of the Jackson Scholars program. “These students are not just talented artists; they are curious, dedicated creatives who demonstrate an aptitude for personal growth and contributing to the world through their artistic work. We are thrilled to provide them with the resources and professional enrichment they need to turn their artistic passion into a meaningful career.”

The Jackson Scholars program is designed to cultivate artistic talent, foster community engagement and prepare students for successful careers after they graduate from Hastings College. The program is housed within the Jackson Dinsdale Art Center (JDAC), one of the preeminent art centers in the Midwest.
