Greeley, Colo., native embraces broad education, opportunities at Hastings

Alex Eisele of Greeley, Colo., chose Hastings College after earning the Walter Scott Scholarship, the College’s most prestigious scholarship for academics and leadership potential.

“Although I initially came to Hastings College because of this financial support, my experience has become so much more. I have met the most kind and selfless people. I have established a lifelong group of friends. I have become a prominent leader on campus and help others do the same.”

For Alex, his college experience includes juggling a Computer Science major with various activities. A member of the Hastings College Men’s Golf team, Alex landed as substantive internship coding insurance software for Priority Data in Omaha, Neb., and also chairs the Artist Lecture Series Student Symposium Committee which brings nationally-known speakers to campus.

Among his mentors, he cites professors in the Computer Science and Mathematics, Music and Business and Economics departments.

“I have enhanced my world view and wholeheartedly embraced what it means to be a well-rounded liberal arts student,” he said. “All I have experienced and the relationships I’ve formed with people at Hastings College are priceless. I would surely come to Hastings again regardless of scholarships.”

Alex would like to work for Google after earning his Master’s degree but ultimately has higher goals.

“Oddly enough, my life goals have nothing to do with technology,” he said. “They are composed of simply being the best person I can be in anything I do along with learning as much as I can about the world around me.”
