Maggie Callahan began teaching at Hastings College in Fall 2017. She teaches composition and rhetoric courses in the Department of Languages & Literatures.

Dr. Callahan's specialty is medical rhetoric. Her current research investigates the fraught ethics of hospitality experienced by healthcare professionals, patients, and loved ones during end-of-life discussions.

In the past, Dr. Callahan has taught composition and writing in the health professions courses; she also worked as a writing tutor, helped run the largest writing program in Louisiana, and most recently worked as a writer/strategist in academic fundraising. Dr. Callahan is committed to making writing accessible, and looks forward to helping all members of the Hastings College community become more passionate about writing.
