The Hastings College Department of Visual Arts offers majors in studio and digital art, art history and art education. Majors may choose to specialize in such subjects as glassblowing, sculpture, graphic design, ceramics, web design, media, broadcasting/videography and motion media, painting, printmaking, drawing and photography.
The Jackson Dinsdale Art Center, or JDAC, is an architecturally innovative showplace for the arts and a superb teaching and learning environment for students.
The facility includes an 1,100 square foot art gallery, well-equipped printmaking and ceramics studios, a painting studio with natural Northern light, and the most sophisticated glassblowing studio of any college or university in the country.

All students, regardless of major/minor are eligible for an art scholarship. Non-majors earn the scholarship by actively participating in art activities and taking at least one art class per semester.
While we accept scholarship applications year round, for best consideration, we recommend you:
- Complete your admissions application by February 15, and
- Meet talent scholarship requirements by March 15.

The Department of Visual Arts is also home to Open Space, a summer art immersion program provided through a collaboration of KANEKO and Hastings College. It's specifically designed for future artists completing their junior year of high school.
