Working in partnership with Central Community College, you’ll learn the technical aspects of construction while getting hands-on experience — even building a house! — and the leadership, communication skills and business management expertise necessary to advance your career with a firm or succeed as an entrepreneurial business owner.

Preparing to manage

Construction managers coordinate and supervise a variety of projects, including the building of residential, commercial, and industrial structures. The Hastings College and Central Community College partnership prepares you to manage:

  • Preparing and negotiating cost estimates, budgets and work timetables
  • Communicating work progress and budget matters to clients
  • Instructing and supervising construction personnel
  • Responding to work delays and emergencies

You’ll help ensure that projects are completed on time and on budget!

Learn the full suite of business skills

You begin with introductory classes in specific business disciplines and conclude with a capstone seminar that integrates everything you’ve learned along the way.

Go further with a Hastings education

Graduate with experience

At Hastings, construction management majors serve one and sometimes two internships, including through our exclusive Talent Pool program. Some expand their understanding of the world by studying abroad. Many take advantage of January Term (J-Term) to gather additional experiences and insight that help advance career options. Every construction management major completes a capstone project, using case studies to solve real-world challenges. What does all this mean? You’ll graduate from Hastings ready to succeed.
