Hastings College announces 2024 Bronco Awards, Who’s Who recipients

During its day-long Celebration of Excellence April 24, Hastings College announced three Bronco Award recipients during its annual Honors Convocation — Ally Banks of Shawnee, Kansas; Jake Levinson of Denver, Colorado; and Lindsay Pratt of Denver.

Established in 1924, the Bronco Award is the College’s highest non-academic award granted to students. Recipients of the Bronco Award and the accompanying Who’s Who list are determined through a vote of their peers and a student-faculty committee.

Who’s Who honorees are recognized for having made outstanding campus contributions during their college careers. Up to 10 percent of the graduating seniors may be named to the Who’s Who list.

Bios for the Bronco Award recipients and the other Who’s Who honorees are listed below.

Ally Banks is an English major from Shawnee, Kansas. The Dean’s List and Scott Scholar student has been an active member of Alpha Chi; the forensics team, where she was awarded All-American honors at nationals this year; the Multicultural Student Union; and Student Senate. She also served as president of the Student Association during the 2023-24 academic year and as secretary during the 2022-23 academic year.

Ayriel Brown-Love of Omaha, Nebraska, is an active member of the women’s tennis team. The exercise science major and Dean’s List student was vice president of the Student Association during the 2023-24 academic year. She also served as a resident assistant, campus tour guide, the Student Senate, Black Student Union and the Peer HIV Education Organization (PHIVE-O). She was also a facilitator for CORE 100.

Turner Griffin is a biology and theatre double major from Grand Island, Nebraska. He has been a member of the Marching Bronco Band, Model United Nations, Alpha Psi Omega, multiple theatre productions, coed competition cheer and the Hastings College Choir. He is also a recipient of the Hal Shiffler award.

Brooke Jorgenson of Orleans, Nebraska, is a member of the Dean’s List as well as Alpha Chi. The studio/digital art major has also participated in art, the Honors Program and theatre.

Jake Levinson is a criminology and history double major from Denver, Colorado, who has been involved in the band, the Marching Bronco Band, Phi Alpha Theta, Student Judicial Council and the Peer HIV Education Organization (PHIVE-O). The Dean’s List student has also served as vice president of DREAM (Disability Rights Education, Activism and Mentoring), on the Bronco Advisory Council and the Student Association’s DEI committee. Levinson has been a resident assistant and participated in Irish Fellows and Local Global.

Emily Nevins of Littleton, Colorado, is an English and marketing double major. She is a Dean’s List student, editor of the Collegian and a student worker for the Department of Languages and Literatures. She is also a member of Sigma Tau Delta and was an Irish Fellow.

Lindsey Pratt is an elementary education and special education major from Denver, Colorado. The Dean’s List student is a member of Alpha Chi, Alpha Psi Omega and Kappa Rho Upsilon. She’s also been a member of the Collegian staff, Peer HIV Education Organization (PHIVE-O), Student Health Advisory Council (SHAC), Local Global, Model United Nations, Student Education Association and a facilitator for CORE 100. Pratt also served as a resident assistant and campus tour guide and has been part of many theatre productions.

Maggie Price is a history major from Bellevue, Nebraska. The Dean’s List student is a member of choral union, the Hastings College Choir, Alpha Psi Omega, Phi Alpha Theta, Kappa Rho Upsilon, Order of Omega, Student Senate and Model United Nations. Price also participated in theatre and spent a semester studying abroad at Dundee University.

Citlaly Quiroz of Fort Morgan, Colorado, is a Dean’s List student who is double majoring in communication studies and sociology. She has participated in the Student Association Executive Council, Student Senate, the Collegian and Lambda Pi Eta. Quiroz was named Phi Kappa Delta’s Outstanding First Year Student and received the Kevin Heineman Memorial Scholarship. Through her involvement on the forensics team, she has seen multiple national outrounds and was recently named All-American. Quiroz has interned at the YWCA and serves as a student worker for Crimson Cupboard and the Psychology and Sociology Department.

Emma Severson is a biochemistry major from Hickman, Nebraska. The Dean’s List student is a member of the women’s golf team, Alpha Chi, Beta Beta Beta, Psi Chi and the HCLS Student Symposium Committee. Severson will be starting D.O. program at Des Moines University in the fall.

Trystan Soby is an exercise science and community health and wellness double major from Omaha, Nebraska. The Dean’s List student is also a member of the football team and in the sports performance internship program.

Sarah Sutton of Cheyenne, Wyoming, is a music major and Dean’s List student who participated in the bell choir, Choral Union, band, the Hastings College Choir, jazz ensemble, Sigma Alpha Iota, Student Education Association and the Hastings Symphony Orchestra.

Chloe Tiell of Littleton, Colorado, is a secondary English education major. She has been a resident assistant for three years and is the current head RA of Bronco Village Apartments. She is a Dean’s List student and previously served as a campus tour guide, leader of Hope120, volunteer with Food4Thought and Red Cross Blood Drive program leader. Tiell has worked at Lincoln Elementary School, Pathfinders and Mary Lanning Hospital and is currently student teaching at Hastings Senior High School. She has accepted a position with Papillion La Vista community schools for the fall.

Asia Tyler is a computer science major from Omaha, Nebraska. The Dean’s List student is on the women’s basketball, track & field and cross country teams, and has served as a resident assistant.

Ugochukwu “Harrison” Udeh is a health systems major from Ogidi, Nigeria. Udeh is a Dean’s List student and a member of the football team. He earned All Conference honors in 2022 and 2023, and in 2023 was given football’s Brick and Mortar Award. He was also named a CSC First Team Academic All-American.

Cale Uhrmacher of Hastings, Nebraska, is a special education major and Dean’s List student. He is a member of the esports team and was a resident assistant, student representative for the Teacher Education Policies Commission and a Food4Thought volunteer.
