Roger Doerr

Roger Doerr was elected to the Hastings College Board of Trustees during the summer of 2016. He was inducted into the Hastings College Pro Rege Society in 2014 and received an honorary doctorate in Business and Finance at the 2013 Hastings College Commencement.

Doerr joined the faculty of Hastings College in 1969 and received several awards for teaching excellence including being named by the Carnegie Foundation as the Nebraska Professor of the Year in 1995. He left the classroom in 1996 to become the President of the Hastings College Foundation—a position he held until 2003 when he returned to the classroom and also took on the duties of being the Head Men’s Golf Coach for the Broncos. He retired in 2013 with 44 years of service to the college.

He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a major in accounting and a minor in economics. His MBA is from Creighton University, and he has done additional studies at UN-L, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Michigan and Illinois State.  He is an inactive Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant.

He currently serves on the Advisory Board of TOBA, Inc. of Grand Island, is Vice President of the Board of Pacha Soap Company, acts as Moderator of the Foundation of First Presbyterian Church in Hastings and is the Vice President of the Mary Lanning Healthcare Foundation Board. He has been active with the Hastings Community Theatre both as a director and actor and was recently President of its board. Roger’s wife, Karen (Gilmore) ’75 is the Resource Development Director for the Hastings Village of the Good Samaritan Society.  They have two children, Brendon (deceased) and Alison ’99.
