Why I chose to attend Hastings College

I graduated from Sabino High School in Tucson, Arizona in 1981. When I went on campus visits to ASU, NAU and Colorado State University I just didn’t connect. Then I visited Hastings College. Here was this awesome college campus in a town of 25,000 people. I loved it. I was also excited to continue playing football and run track. I was far from home, but I found that the people at the College and in the community are amazing. It quickly became my new “home.”

Hobbies and Interests

I love to golf and be outside. Sports and coaching have always been a big part of my life, as well. But, if I get a chance to be on a boat out on the water, I’m there!

Favorite thing about Hastings College

My favorite thing has been watching this awesome and amazing campus grow! I used to think it was amazing when I attended back in the early 80’s. And now–wow! The incredible facilities we have today are second to none! I do have to say that the people that were at Hastings when I was there and all those since are awesome.

Favorite place on Campus

This is a tough one for me. I do love the sports facilities especially when there are games going on. But I really enjoy Hazelrigg Student Union because this is where everyone meets up and reconnects.

Most memorable class

Dr. Lloyd’s Literature class blew me away my freshman year. And Dr. Stoer’s political classes have stayed with me to this day!

Favorite thing to do in Hastings

Golfing at Lochland Country Club is always a favorite. Southern Hills Country Club is another favorite of mine. But I have to say, hanging around in downtown Hastings is always fun. I had never lived in a place that had a true “downtown” like the one in Hastings.

Favorite place to eat in Hastings

There are lots of new places here now, but back in the day it was Godfather’s Pizza and also the Barrel Bar. The Barrel has the best charburger in town!

Best thing about being a Bronco

My fellow Broncos. The men and women I met while at Hastings College are still my best friends. We used to always say that not everyone could be a Bronco. You had to have that something else–that something special. I agree!

Hidden Talent

Cooking. Yep cooking. I am a wiz around the kitchen and love it. Everything except baking anyway, and I will bring the heat! Growing up in AZ really gave me awesome experiences in southwest cooking and flavors!

Best meal I can cook

Sour cream enchiladas…..they have always been my signature dish!

People would be surprised to know that…..

I lived in 10 states and went to 14 different schools before high school.
