Chris Stelling

Adjunct Instructor, Jazz Ensemble Director

Christopher Stelling is a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force Bands Program. In 1998, Stelling enlisted into the USAF Air Combat Command Band (Offutt AFB, NE, Langley AFB, VA) where he served and performed as professional saxophonist, featured soloist, music arranger and jazz ensemble music director and band leader to audiences of over one million people during his 20 year military career.

Originally a native of Kearney, Nebraska, Stelling earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Saxophone Performance from The University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1996.

Throughout his distinguished military career, Stelling has worked and performed with many renowned musicians, including Rufus Reid, John Pizzarelli, Josh Groban, Jim Snydero, Mike Vax, Eric Richards, Wycliffe Gordon, Ernie Watts, Randy Brecker, Allen Vizutti, Nate Smith and Mark Pender.

In 2013, he was deployed to the countries of Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Afghanistan, Jordan and other undisclosed locations in Southwest Asia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, serving and performing for coalition and American forces and building international partnerships for America.
