Our Construction Management program involves a major in Business Administration and minor in Construction Management at Hastings College, plus a partnership with Central Community College in Hastings. Through this partnership you’ll learn the technical aspects of construction while getting hands-on experience — even building a house! — and the leadership, communication skills and business management expertise from Hastings necessary to advance your career with a firm or succeed as an entrepreneurial business owner.

Preparing to manage

Construction managers coordinate and supervise a variety of projects, including the building of residential, commercial, and industrial structures. The Hastings College and Central Community College partnership prepares you to manage:

  • Preparing and negotiating cost estimates, budgets and work timetables
  • Communicating work progress and budget matters to clients
  • Instructing and supervising construction personnel
  • Responding to work delays and emergencies

At Hastings, construction management students serve one and sometimes two internships, including through our exclusive Talent Pool program. All expand their understanding of the world by studying abroad during a two-week block their second year, and many take advantage of the two-week blocks to gather additional experiences and insight that help advance career options.
