  • Dr. Jo and Judi (McGuire) '65 Beran live in Kerville, Texas.  Jo and Judi recently visited the Hastings College campus for the first time in several years and report they were impressed with the Jackson Dinsdale Art Center and loved the artwork that was on display, along with the Morrison-Reeves Science Center.   • Frank and Linda (Gaines) '65 Vondra live in Arlington, Texas. Their grandson, Dalton Vondra, graduated from Tarleton State with a 3.85 GPA in Business Administration and will continue his studies towards a Master's Degree.  Granddaughter, Kendall Vondra, graduated with honors from Kennedale High School and has signed to play volleyball at the University of Arkansas in Montecello.  (Update): Another grandson, Noah Burt, a senior at Frisco Centennial, is ranked one of the top closers in Division 5-A high school baseball, with two wins, 11 saves and a ERA of .063. His team has advanced into the third round of state playoffs.  (Submitted 8/25/16 and 5/17/17)

  • Conrad and Joyce Grothen of Juniata, Nebraska, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary November 19, 2016. (Submitted 11/15/16)
  • Kay (Cirksena) and Dick Floyd of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, will celebrate their 50th anniversary May 20, 2017. Their children and grandchildren, including son and daughter-in-law Scott and Stephanie and their children, Jackson (14), Anna (12), and Lucy (5), and son and daughter-in-law Matt and Catherine and their children, Sarah (7) and Henry (3), have planned a special celebration for family and friends in Oklahoma City on July 1, 2017. Kay works as the state director of Head Start Collaboration in Oklahoma, and Dick has retired after 35 years in radio broadcasting. (Submitted 12/13/16) 
  • Bill McCord (pictured) lives in Haines, Alaska, after spending 47 years in northwest Washington State.  Bill has retired from his fourth career as a Secondary Level Science and English Teacher and enjoys a variety of events from sipping an espresso and continuing to self-realize the learning sparks from Hastings College, to dodging encounters with moose and bears.  He also is a fan of the Hastings College soccer program, which he says is a dramatic advance from when he and classmate Edwin Fondo initiated mere pick-up games back in their days!  (Update): In the Spring of 2017, Bill was appointed by the Haines Borough Assembly to serve as a member of the Public Safety Commission. His chief aim is to promote citizen oversight of the Police Department and to advance citizens' knowledge of how to protect their civil rights. (Submitted 9/26/16 and 5/17/17)
  • Kathleen (Koontz) and Dr. Dennis Maloney live in Omaha, Nebraska.  Kathleen is a Writer and Assistant Editor for The Deem Corporation in Omaha. (Submitted 6/24/16)
  • Larry and Doris Austin live in Knoxville, Tennessee.  After 16 years as a Physicist for Union Carbide Nuclear Division, and 32 years as a Registered Representative Financial Planner, Larry has reverted back to being a drummer from his days with the Kopi Katz and is now a Drum Circle Facilitator. Larry reports that Drum Circles are taking off in the Knoxville area, where he conducts three circles and participates in three other circles. Larry may be seen drumming at ljams or Scruffy City Drum Circle on Facebook. (Submitted 9/26/16)
  • Nancy (Shrum) and John Zagorski live in Pueblo West, Colorado. Nancy recently was named "Woman of the Year" by the Pueblo West Women's League and was recognized for her work as a volunteer in the community.  Nancy works with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), serves as a volunteer for the Pueblo West Women's League, where she raises money for organizations in the community, and has also helped organize a dog therapy program for the Military PTSD Inpatient Clinic in Pueblo.   • Dr. Sharlene (Voogd) Cochrane of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, is excited to announce she recently edited/contributed to a book, "Culturally Responsive Teaching and Reflection in Higher Education," which published this spring.  Additional information on her new book is available here.   • Dr. John Starkel and Dr. George Christ (pictured) of Richardson, Texas, were married at a ceremony in their home November 19, 2016 by Rev. Thomas C. Gibbons, Senior Pastor, and Rev. Katy Rigler, Associate Pastor, both from St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church in Richardson. John and George have known each other for 19 years and have shared a home for the past 16 years.  Both are retired from long and successful careers in education.  George is the organist at St. Barnabas.  John is a bass in the church choir and has also become active at the                       Presbytery level of the church.   • Don and Linda Rabbe live in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Don (pictured) is Director of Administration for an advertising agency in Lincoln and was presented the 2015-2016 Silver Medal Award for outstanding contributions to the advertising profession and community by the American Advertising Federation of Lincoln.  Don and Linda will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 7, 2017.
