Pictures and Updates
AC Units and Color
Renovation crews have made great progress in just a week. As of July 25th, we can see that the air conditioning units have been installed above Bronc's doors (top-left photo). Students in Babcock and Bronc will be able to adjust the room temperature (top-right photo). Dorm room numbers and cork boards have been installed on Bronc's first floor (bottom-left photo) while the dorm's study rooms and basement have received a nice blue tint and lighting (middle-right photo). The main lobby in Babcock is almost ready for paint (bottom-right photo).
Only a couple more weeks until they are complete . . . and only a few weeks until students return!
Carpet, Sinks and More
As of July 18, we are moving right along. Carpet on 3rd floor Babcock is almost done (top-left photo). The bathrooms in Babcock are just waiting for sinks and showerheads (top-right photo). The 3rd floor lobby has been carpeted just waiting on the air conditioning unit (bottom-left photo). And it appears that Taylor Hall's sinks are getting installed.
We're almost ready for you to experience the changes!
Drywall, Paint & Carpet
It's July 11 and much progress has been made over the last two weeks. We've seen tile being installed in bathrooms (second floor of Babcock, top left), painting on Babcock's third floor (bottom, left), drywall in the lower level of Bronc (top, right), construction of the two collaboration/study rooms in Bronc (middle, right) and new carpet going in Taylor (bottom, right). A lot of tile and carpet was unloaded this week, and a crew of up to 20 painters will be in full swing next week. We're getting close!
Good progress has been made since our last update, although much of it is behind the scenes (plumbing and electrical work). In the montage below, you see painting happening in Taylor (top left), the Bronc basement (top right), a hallway in Babcock (bottom left) and Babcock kitchen (bottom right). The hallway work in Babcock shows drywall around the sprinkler system...it really adds a nice look to the space. Kiewit said major finishing work is starting soon. These photos were taken June 25.
(Re)Construction is underway!
Deconstruction in Bronc and Babcock wrapped up last week, and now workers are starting the re-construction phase. New door jams, framing with metal studs, prep for new heating/cooling equipment, prep for new bathrooms and kitchens -- and more -- are all in full swing. There are 30-40 workers on site every day! Work in Taylor is also underway (lower right), with carpet coming out soon while bathrooms are prepped for new counters and sinks. The photos below were all taken June 13.
(De)Construction is underway!
The deconstruction of Bronc and Babcock began bright and early Monday morning (May 19).
New furniture is on the way for Bronc and Babcock! Desks have plenty of space, and pull out shelves really ramp up the flexibility. All three pieces easily fit together under a lofted bed – but they separate and move to fit your design plans. You'll also find new wardrobes in Babcock (Bronc has closets), while new loft/bunk stands are ordered for Bronc.
Babcock Hall: Finishes
After meeting with current students, Babcock paint and color finishes were updated. You'll find some finishes below. The fireplace in the lounge will be converted to natural gas...and become a cozy focal point.
Bronc Hall: Finishes
Bronc paint and color finishes were tweaked after meetings with current students. Some finishes are shown below (carpet and restroom finishes are to come). The kitchen is a new feature for Bronc. It'll be a great place to meet, play and work. The island counter includes plug-ins for all your devices. Off the kitchen (to the right in the images below) will be a great lounge and new collaboration/study rooms.
Taylor Hall: Finishes
After meetings with students living in Taylor Hall, carpet and paint choices were narrowed down, and then finalized after another round of input from students. Neutral carpet and paint will dominate common spaces, with accents providing nice pops of color in specific areas. The custom room signs fit the historic nature of Taylor perfectly, and will be a great place for notes and messages.
Carpet and colors: Round one
In early March, architects presented these carpet and color ideas to students living in each dorm, with feedback guiding a second-round of options. Carpet shown here is for entry and common spaces – carpet in rooms will be solid, neutral colors (ditto for paint colors in rooms...they'll save the color for lounges and other spaces). Some of the colors are for cabinents in kitchens, countertops and so on.
