Bronco speakers compete at Kansas Swing forensics tournament

While many Hastings College students ventured home over the January Term Break, members of the Bronco Forensics team traveled to Manhattan, Kan., to participate in the January 25-26 Kansas Swing hosted by Kansas State University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Individual results follow.

The Broncos will travel to Cheyenne, Wyo., next weekend to compete in the 2014 Flatland Fiesta.

One-act plays produced, performed by theatre students cap collegiate careers

Capstones productions are student-directed one-act plays giving theater majors the freedom to select, cast and direct performances. The productions provide Hastings College students the opportunity to pull together their experiences from throughout their collegiate career. 

For 2014 capstone productions, performances are scheduled for March 6, 7 and 8 at 8:00 pm and March 9 at 2:00 pm in Scott Studio Theatre (806 N. Turner Ave.).

Hastings College announces its Fall 2013 Dean's List

Hastings College has announced the Dean’s List for its fall 2013 semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.7 to 4.0, on a 4.0 scale, and be registered for full-time course work.

Students are listed alphabetically by state and hometown (students from outside the U.S. are located at the end of each list). Please be sure to check both lists, 4.0 and 3.7, for students’ names. Thank you.

Adounkpe qualifies for national forensics tournament

With a second place finish in Dramatic Interpretation, Eunice Adounkpe, a sophomore from Omaha, Neb., qualified for the American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET). Her performances at the 2014 Sleet and Snow Swing held at Concordia University in Seward, Neb., on January 18-19, 2014, helped propel the Hastings College Bronco Forensics team to a third place finish for the weekend overall.

The Broncos will travel to Manhattan, Kan., next weekend to compete in the Kansas in Nebraska Swing.

Klugesherz, Buskirk place at competitive forensics tournament

Cold weather was no deterrent for hot performances by the Hastings College Bronco Forensics team. At the 15th Annual Hell Froze Over (HFO) Forensics Tournament held on January 11-12, 2014, in Austin, Texas, the team advanced two competitors – Miranda Klugesherz, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jared Buskirk, a senior from Holdrege, Neb. -- to finals in three events.

Bronco Forensics team closes semester with strong performances

On the first day of the Outer Limits Swing Forensics Tournament, the Hastings College Bronco Forensic team took fourth place. The event, held on December 7-8 and hosted by Concordia College and the University of Nebraska-Kearney, was the team’s last competition in 2013. Tournaments resume in January 2014.
