Psychology Major Requirements

A major in psychology consists of a minimum of 34 hours, including 16 hours of required courses and 18 hours of  electives.

Required classes: PSY 100, 200, 373, 375, 491 and SOC 295 or MTH 210.

Electives: Students may select from any of the psychology classes that are taught, but they must select at least one class from each of groups A, B, and C. However, students may select more than one class from each group.

  • Group A: PSY 210, 261, 333
  • Group B: PSY 201, 334, 331
  • Group C: PSY 221, 236, 311, 313

Minor: A minor in psychology consist of 22 hours including PSY 100, 101, and 18 hours of electives; at least one course must be selected from each of Groups A, B, and C above.

Endorsement: 7-12 Psychology Subject Endorsement (in addition to Professional Education Requirements) includes PSY 100, 201, 221, 261, 313, 373, 375, 415, 420; SOC 130 , or PSY 130, SOC 295 or MTH 210 and one Social Science elective; and SOC 344, COM 201, or COM 241
