The Hastings College Computer Science program puts you in the driver’s seat, giving you an opportunity to develop software, design databases and information systems, build operating systems, learn about machine learning, design and create games, and consult with businesses looking for support. With unlimited access to professors with doctorate degrees, you’ll have great flexibility in your program while building an adaptable computer science skill set designed for the future.
Our faculty offer experience and flexibility. Their real world experience in software design allows them to give you great classroom opportunities and lead directed studies in areas that interest you but fall outside the Hastings College course catalog. Even more great opportunities come via Hasting’s January term (J-term), when professors offer courses in their own areas of interest, including computer hardware, artificial intelligence, game theory and web based game design.
Collaborating with professors and classmates allows you to hone your skills while preparing for experiences outside of college. Most of our computer science students complete one or more internships, thanks to Hastings College’s relationships with businesses and government organizations in the region and throughout the state. Internships and professional opportunities allow you to apply all your skills to problem solving in real-world situations. Each such learning experience builds upon the previous ones, culminating in a professional level senior project related to an area of special interest to you.
You’ll find Hastings College Computer Science graduates all over the world. They design and write software, work as computer technicians, serve as business consultants, design web sites for businesses, continue to graduate school for an advanced degree and even own their own software companies.
Those holding Computer Science degrees are in demand – and often command high salaries. It’s a great, wide open future. Start down that road by applying to Hastings College.
