Ann taught special education and 4th grade for 18 years at Watson School in Hastings. After obtaining her master’s in administration from the University of Nebraska-Kearney, she served as an elementary principal for the Hastings district for 11 years at Watson and Hawthorne schools. After 28 years in education, Ann decided to pursue her lifelong dream of teaching at the college level by joining Hastings College in 2013.
She’s always had a special interest in supporting children with behavior disorders and is currently working on a doctorate in this area. Ann enjoys performing in 3 for Thee, a local a cappella trio, working in children’s ministry at her church and playing guitar for contemporary services. She looks forward to inspiring future teachers to see each child as a unique individual, despite learning or behavioral differences.
