Faculty Position In Advertising/Public Relations (Tenure Track)

Date Of Appointment: Late August, 2013.

Qualifications: PhD in related field preferred, ABD and MFA candidates will be considered.  Professional experience in advertising and/or public relations is a benefit.

The Position: The successful candidate will teach courses such as principles of advertising, principles of public relations, business communication, media writing, editing, and design.  Working within a convergent media context, this person will also develop future strategies and sponsor co-curricular activities. Teaching load is 4-1-4 (12 hours per semester plus a January term course). Willingness to advise and work closely with students is essential. Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience; the position includes a full benefit package.
 
The Department: The Department of Journalism and Media Arts is located in the $4.5 million Gray Center for Communication Arts and includes four full-time faculty members, with an emphasis on experiential learning.  

The College: Founded in 1882, Hastings College is an independent, coeducational, Presbyterian-related, national liberal arts college with an enrollment of about 1100 students.  The student/faculty ratio is 13/1. The median ACT composite of entering students is about 24.

The Community: Hastings (pop. 25,000) is an attractive residential community in South-Central Nebraska, 100 miles west of Lincoln, and 15 minutes south of Interstate 80. The city enjoys good public and private schools, offers excellent professional and community services, and serves as a cultural center for a large surrounding area.
