Faculty Position in Business Administration
Date of appointment: Late August, 2013
Qualifications: PhD expected, ABD considered. May also consider MBA plus law degree. Interest in an eclectic liberal arts environment is desirable as is some practical experience in the non-academic business world.
The Position: Specific course load will depend on candidate’s strengths but may include strategic management, entrepreneurship, and human resources management. The position requires the ability to integrate oral and written communication skills as well as computer skills into course requirements. Hastings College gives highest priority to teaching effectiveness. Willingness to advise, counsel, and work closely with students is essential.
The Department: The Department of Business and Economics is located in the Fleharty Center and includes six full-time faculty members, strong student enrollments, and a friendly, professional atmosphere.
The College: Founded in 1882, Hastings College is an independent, coeducational, Presbyterian-related, national liberal arts college with an enrollment of about 1100 students. The student/faculty ratio is 13/1. The median ACT composite of our current freshman class is over 24.
The Community: Hastings (pop. 25,000) is an attractive residential community in South-Central Nebraska, 100 miles west of Lincoln, and 15 minutes south of Interstate 80. The city enjoys good public and private schools, offers excellent professional and community services, and serves as a cultural center for a large surrounding area.
