David Lovekin
David will display 24 photographs he has taken in the town of Lebanon, Kansas and discuss the link between his work and philosophical understandings of the relationships between images and words.
Constance Malloy
Constance has been working with West African immigrants to Hastings. Her grant involves hosting dinners for students, community members and African immigrants to share and to find “the reciprocal joy in working with immigrant families and becoming friends.”

These education students went to Belize for J-term 2010 and brought with them books, balls and other educational resources for working with elementary and high schools in Corozal and Cristo Rey.

This group of students partnered with the Rosebud reservation’s North Elementary to provide books that will help students increase their literacy skills.

These education students partnered with Hastings Parks and Recreation Department to purchase and install an outdoor educational trail in Hastings’ Libb’s Park, and they hosted a community event for the trail’s opening.
Alisha Hellner
Alisha’s aim is to make her community of Kenesaw a better place by starting a group where young people, between 18 and 40 years of age, can get together and socialize in a safe environment. She is partnering with the Kenesaw United Methodist Church.

Music students hosted a musical sampler for middle and high school students from the Zone, an organization for at-risk youth. This musical outreach is designed to reach students who otherwise may not have the chance to appreciate this music and to inspire students to learn more about music.

These students are planning fundraisers to provide sustainable resources for this program. Each week, Food 4 Thought provides backpacks of food to local elementary students in need.
Ross Whiston
Ross will travel to Budapest, Hungary, to work with the Christian School of Budapest. He is exploring the field of teaching in an international setting and mission work.
