Ruth Swift: Comparing a Logistic Dynamic Equation on the Integers to the Logistic Difference Equation

The time scales calculus is a theory developed to unify discrete and continuous analysis. Time scales allow for the study of differential equations and difference equations to be united into what are called dynamic equations. Our project focused on the logistic differential equation and its corresponding difference and dynamic equations. We looked at what has traditionally been known as the logistic difference equation and compared it to a newly proposed logistic difference equation derived using the time scale calculus. We based our evaluation of these equations on their application to population dynamics, and used population data to assess their relative use as a model for population growth.
