Dr. Carol Meyer
Professor of Business Administration

Carol A. Meyer, Ph.D., Professor of Marketing
Meyer received her Business Ph.D. at the University of Nebraska, focusing on Marketing with outside areas in Sociology and Statistical Analysis.

Meyer has served as a marketing consultant and also a human resource management consultant for hundreds of small, regional, and global entities.  Her list of clients includes government, for-profit, and charitable entities. She was also a partner in two successful marketing firms.

Meyer has traveled to more than 80 countries --Russia, Malaysia, Chile, Slovenia -- the list is long and interesting.  Carol spent her most recent sabbatical traversing Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Serbia.

She and her husband, Dr. Dallas Wilhelm (Chair of the HC Biology Department), have led more than a dozen HC J-Term trip courses to other countries.  The 2012 J-Term trip course traveled to Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji Islands (video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UM2KWUhV9D8 ).  The 2013 J-Term trip course will travel to Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Belize.

Meyer devotes considerable energy serving Hastings College organizations.  She has served on dozens of campus-wide committees and has served multiple terms on the Tenure and Promotion Committee, the Faculty Senate, Strategic Planning Committees, and more than a dozen Faculty Search Committees.  Additionally, Meyer has served as the sponsor for various student groups, including Delta Phi Sigma Fraternity, Chi Omega Psi Sorority, and the Professional Business Leaders.

Meyer served as the Director of the Hastings College Business Project Management Institute for 22 years.  During her Directorship, the Institute served more than one hundred small, regional, and global entities.   In additional to assisting these entities in their quest for success, these projects provided students with "real life" work experiences, mentors, and impressive lines on their resumes.

Meyer has earned the Outstanding Advisor of the Year Award for going "above and beyond" the duties of an academic advisor.  Also, she has earned the Outstanding Faculty Member Award that the Alpha Chi student honor society presents.

Meyer's efforts to help her students prepare for their future careers takes on many roles.  She writes dozens of letters of recommendation every year for her students; she brainstorms industry and career choices with her advisees; she works with students on internships, interview processes, summer jobs, graduate school choices, and travel experiences.

Meyer is most particularly careful in developing her students' ultra-professional presentation skills -- some think the best presentation skills in the nation.  These presentation skills are designed for presentations to boards, clients, and employees.  Alum Tyler Keyser says "I have attended professional presentations in NYC, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Boston, and Atlanta, and have still not seen a presentation at the high level that is routinely performed by the HC Marketing majors as they prepare for their careers."
