Coach Clay enters his seventh season at Hastings College as the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country/Track and Field Coach. Coach Clay returned to his alma mater from Central College in Pella, Iowa, where he served as the Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track and Field Coach for three seasons. Prior to his tenure at Central College, he served as the Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field Coach at Lindsey Wilson College from 1998 until 2000. As an athlete at Hastings College, Coach Clay was an All-NIAC performer in Cross Country and Track and Field. In addition, Coach Clay was a 4 time Academic All-American as well as a four time NAIA National Qualifier in Cross Country and a two time Conference Champion in the Men’s 5000m run.

 

During Coach Clay’s tenure at Hastings College, the program has 5 National Champions, 55 All-Americans in Track and Cross Country, and 64 Academic All-Americans. Coach Clay is excited about the direction the program is headed and currently the program has a record number of participants within the program. Coach Clay is looking for student-athletes that are committed to building an even more successful program and committed to his family oriented philosophy in a sport which has traditionally been seen as an individual sport.
