Bernard Tushaus
Instructor in Communication Studies and Theatre

Bernie Tushaus has been associated with Hastings College since 1970 when he first arrived to teach speech and theatre classes. After a number of years, he took a break from teaching to own and operate with his wife the full-service bookstore in Hastings called Prairie Books & Gifts, which continues its 34-year tradition of serving the book needs of south-central Nebraska. Throughout the 1990’s, Tushaus served in an adjunct capacity, teaching several sections of Fundamentals of Public Speaking each semester.

Since 2006, he is again instructing communication and theatre classes full time.  “My experience in the business world and with the performing arts has expanded my appreciation for the importance of interpersonal, group, and public communication in the world at large as well as in the classroom.”

Tushaus often presents programs to groups large and small on the quirks and pitfalls of the English language, as well as on other topics.
