Hi! I'm Vicki Valentine. I'm one of the newest instructors in the Hastings College Education Department. I teach Introduction to American Schools, Reading in the Content Field, Secondary Assessment, and Elementary Social Studies Methods. During J-Term, I teach Cross-Cultural Awareness.
I came to Hastings college in 2007 after teaching business and technology in public schools for 30 years. I've often said that my education – through teaching, learning, and travel – has changed my life. In the past 10 years, I've worked on two masters degrees in curriculum and instruction and educational administration.
I've been able to travel the United States as well as Asia, Africa, South and North America, Europe and Australia. As I've learned about other cultures, the lives and experiences of indigenous people has captured my attention and changed my perspective. I hope to bring this developing awareness to Hastings College students.
