Dr. Smith, professor of music, serves in the vocal, music theatre and opera workshop areas. Before arriving on the faculty of Hastings College in 1989, Charles taught on the faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Dr. Smith, a lyric baritone, has over 100 musical theatre/opera roles, as well as providing musical direction for 50 musicals and operas, to his credit. He has appeared in recital, opera and musical theatre across the United States, Canada, England, and Switzerland. Charles is currently the Regional Governor for the West Central Region of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
