Gary L. Freeman '93

Gary Freeman graduated from Hastings College in 1993 with a major in business administration and highest distinction in accounting. He was selected for Stanford University’s Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders at the Graduate School of Business in 2006 and has completed fundraising courses with Indiana University’s Center on Philanthropy. A certified public accountant, Gary was Business Assurance Manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Omaha before joining the Foundation in 2000 as Senior Vice President.

 

Promoted to President of the Foundation in 2003, Gary led the final phase of the $25 million Building on Tradition Campaign as well as the $13 million campaign for the Morrison-Reeves Science Center. During his presidency, the Foundation raised approximately $6 million annually for capital, annual operations, and endowment. He created a comprehensive deferred and planned giving program and developed a grant writing program resulting in major funding from private foundations. He has been actively involved in strategic planning, endowment management, and policy development. Gary joined UNO’s athletic administration this summer.

 

Gary’s spouse Susan (Herbek) Freeman is also a graduate of Hastings College. Gary and Susan are active members of St. Elizabeth Ann Church in Omaha. They are parents of one daughter, Aly.
