Biology honorary wins district awards for presentation, archiving

Mallory Suhr, a senior from Seward, Neb., placed 2nd for the Brooks Award for research presentations during biology honorary Beta Beta Beta’s (TriBeta) North-Central 2 District Conference.  She was one of four members of HC’s Pi Omicron Chapter of  TriBeta who participated in the conference.  Megan Puckett, a senior from Lincoln, Neb., and Jake Wardyn, a senior from Weeping Water, Neb., also presented the results of their senior research projects.

Furthermore, the Pi Omicron Chapter won 1st place for the Chapter History Award for its scrapbook created by the chapter’s historian, Cassie Waldron. The scrapbook will now be entered into the Chapter History competition as part of the Annual Conference in Puerto Rico in May.  Waldron is a junior from Fairbury, Neb.  

Suhr will present her paper, Prevalence of Escherichia coli O157 in Midwestern United States Cattle, during the 2012 Academic Showcase.
