HC Bronco Men's Indoor Track Team places 5th overall at NAIA meet
Fueled by a 69'11" national record winning heave in the 35 lb. weight throw by Philipsburg, Kans., senior Gabe Wickham, the Broncos took three of the top four slots in the event and helped lead the team to a 5th place finish overall. Cody Weber, a senior from Hastings, Neb., finished second in the event while Garrett Wickham, a senior from Philipsburg, Kans., finished fourth in the event coached by Zac Osgood.
Weber, who accounted for 16 of the team’s 46 points, also finished second in the shot put.
Ronnie Taylor, a senior from Mesa, Ariz., finished second in the long jump, while Jake Holmquist, a junior from Burwell, Neb., finished third in the men’s heptathlon.
For the HC Bronco Women’s Indoor Track Team, Abby Griffith, a junior from Aurora, Neb., finished third in the shot put, and McKayla Gowen, a junior from Grand Island, Neb., finished ninth in the weight throw.
