HC’s Tri-Beta Chapter recognized as “Outstanding” by national office

Hastings College’s Pi Omicron Chapter of Beta Beta Beta has earned the 2012 Lloyd M. Bertholf Award. This national award, bestowed by the biology honorary organizations’s national office, recognizes chapters for their efforts to promote and conduct research, maintain robust programming on campus and participate in regional and national programming.
With nearly 1,200 students, Hastings College is by far the smallest institution to receive the Bertholf Award this year. During the local chapter’s 10-year existence, Hastings College students have received grants from the Tri-Beta Foundation to conduct research and have published in the organization’s journal, BIOS. HC alumna Krystal Tamura ’07 earned an award for the best undergraduate paper published in BIOS during 2010.
