Trader ’74 selected for Athletic Hall of Fame
Mike Trader ’74, Vice President of Athletic Development and former Head Coach for the HC Bronco Men’s Basketball team, was inducted into the Omaha Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame on November 17, 2012. He was recognized for his coaching boys’ basketball at Omaha Bryan from 1977-1985, during which time he led the Bears to their first state tournament appearance in school history (1983-1984).
“When I went to Bryan, the program wasn’t very good,” said Trader. “We had to start from the bottom, and that forces you to look at every aspect of the program. It was absolutely the best thing that happened to me as a coach.”
Prior to coaching at Bryan, he coached for two years at Northwest High School in Omaha. Following his stint with the Bears, he returned to central Nebraska to coach at Hastings High School and then at HC, his alma mater.
