The Hastings College Coalition for Great Plains Research presents our Annual Spring 2011 Symposium:
Unveiling a Ponderous Landscape
A gathering open to students, academics, and all who are interested in the Great Plains.
Saturday April 30th, 1:00-4:30PM at the Nebraska Nature and Visitors’ Center. South of the I-80 Alda exit, 6 miles west of Grand Island.

![]() | Session 1: Tom Lynch The Lilac by the Door: Settler Colonial Women’s Agrarian Narratives in the U.S. and Australia Tom is an Associate Professor of English at UN-Lincoln who focuses on ecocriticism. |
![]() | Session 2: Lisa Knopp From the Center: Writing About the Midwest and Great Plains Lisa is an author and associate professor of non-fiction writing at UN-Omaha. |

![]() | Session 3: David Lovekin Lebanon, Kansas: The Geospiritual Center of the United States David is a Professor of Philosophy at Hastings College and an avid photographer. |
![]() | Session 4: John Janovy Jr. Looking at the Great Plains through a Microscope John is a Professor of Biological Sciences at UN-Lincoln and the author of numerous books on the life of the Great Plains. |
