At a tournament featuring events qualified for the 2013 American Forensics Association (AFA) National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET) in Hutchinson, Kans., the Hastings College Bronco Forensics finished fifth overall, defeating other national forensics powerhouses including George Mason University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  At the AFA Preview Tournament hosted by Hutchinson Community College, Miranda Klugesherz, a sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colo., paced the team with a first place finish in Communication Analysis on the first day of competition while Jose Jimenez, a junior from Lexington, Neb., finished second in Program of Oral Interpretation on Saturday and Sunday.
