(Hastings, Neb.) – After a national search spanning several months, Hastings College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Gary Johnson to serve as its new Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and Dean of the Faculty.  His appointment is effective July 1, 2012.

"I am thrilled that Gary will be joining the Hastings College community as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty,” said Dennis Trotter, President of Hastings College.  “Not only is his skill set well-suited to our needs, he also has a keen understanding of Hastings College's culture.  I anticipate Gary will connect with faculty and students alike."

Currently the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio, Dr. Johnson brings to the position considerable experience as both a professor and an administrator.
In his current position, he has facilitated professional development activities for faculty, led strategic planning initiatives and ensured the viability of the six academic departments.

“I am excited to join President Trotter and his dynamic leadership team at Hastings College,” said Dr. Johnson.  “It is a school with a strong tradition and a dedicated faculty, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to be a part of its promising future.”

Trotter appreciates the efforts of faculty, trustees, staff and students during the successful search process.

“I want to thank the VPAA search committee for their efforts to fill this critical position and to congratulate them on identifying and securing a candidate who will be a great fit for our campus,” Trotter said.
